Aerospace research has witnessed the finest engineering marvels in and continuing its efforts in innovations. The scientists, engineers, and allied professionals conceive, design, develop, test, construct, and operate air and space vehicles, plus their associated systems and subsystems. ICAST, in anticipation, to meet scholarly information requirements of scientists and technologists of CSIR-NAL in particular and aerospace community in general id continuously focusing on building rich content in both print and digital form with a robust retrieval system.
Since from inception, ICAST, with its robust collection development policy, focused on enriching the library with print documents such as books (fundamental & applied), journals (Bound volumes), Technical reports (NASA, RTCS, CASA, AGARD, etc.), Standards (SAE, BIS, ISO, ARINC, RTCA, etc.), Conference proceedings, Doctoral theses, Patents, Meeting papers. More than 2.5 lakhs of technical reports & meeting papers in microfiche format is a unique collection. The entire print resources are searchable through WebOPAC and Shodpavan, a discovery platform.
With the advent of digital technologies and to meet the growing needs of digital information by digital natives and digital migrants, ICAST proactively started building E-Resources. ICAST provides access to a wide range of E-resources from reputed STM publishers, 4000+ E-Journals (AIAA, SpringerNature, T&F, IOP, CUP, OUP, De Gruyter, SAGE, Elsevier), Digital library platforms (IEEE, ASTM, ASME,) Citation Databases (SCOPUS & WoS), Standards collection platforms (ASTM, IEEE, BIS, SAE), Patent databases (Derwent, PATSNAP). All E-resources are made accessible on & off campus round the clock and integrated into the Shodpavan discovery platform.
